The Soothsayer Platform: Predictive Maintenance and Vibration analysis Success Story
Industry: Oil and gas
Challenge: Gas turbine vibration was high and fluctuated and tends to reach high alarm.

Bandpass vibration trend of the gas turbine at the GGI and GGC positions has stepped up and fluctuated with wide range when GG speed was below 7350 RPM
Spectrum plot was analyzed and found the main cause of vibration is from the machine operating speed 1X.
After increased GG speed over 7350 RPM, The vibration of GGI and GGC was decreased and remained stable.
Spectrum plot shown the amplitude of 1X RPM was reduced.
System’s Stiffness might be change (Front support, Rear support or Spring support)

Health index of Gas turbine was dropped because of GGI and GGC vibration was fluctuated and out of SD band several times

Solution Implemented:

P-Dictor team provide the recommendation to:

Short term

Should operate GG speed more than 7350 RPM to avoid high vibration. Oil condition should be performed and monitor wear condition.

Long term

Front support should be investigate and re-adjust the position.

Owner’s Countermeasure:

Increased load and speed over 7350 RPM to avoid Check front support on shutdown event and found front support of both side was not align

Cost saving calculation: xxxx BAHT
Decrease downtime: 4 days.

Before adjust

After adjust
